Torrevieja translated is “old” or “ancient tower” which is found on the north side of the town overlooking the sea.  Originally a Moorish defence now recently restored, with gardens laid around it.  It's is a popular place for wedding couples to be photographed with the blue Mediterranean sea as a backdrop.

and every Friday people come from miles around to pick up a bargain or to buy fruit and vegetables fresh from the farm.  Each evening, close to the port you can buy hand made jewellery or maybe some carved art from Africa
or leather goods at a fraction of the price at home.  The indoor market is open daily for fish, fruit, vegetable and fresh meat and is situated in the centre of the town.
